The Global Space Connectivity & Sustainability Events 2026 were held from 12 to 14 October 2026 at the headquarters of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in Riyadh, with onsite and virtual participation. The event, themed “Connected Earth, Sustainable Space”, was co-organised by CST and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Two forums under one umbrella
The programme brought together the third editions of two established events:
- Connecting the World from the Skies, focused on non-terrestrial networks (NTN)
- Space Sustainability Forum, focused on the responsible use of space
Topics covered
SPA reported that the connectivity track examined satellite integration with 6G, direct-to-device connectivity, spectrum policy and the road to the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27). The sustainability track looked at the space economy, orbital congestion, space debris and space governance. SPA put attendance at more than 8,000 participants across 33 sessions.
Related activities
CST and the Saudi Space Agency announced the winners of the SpaceUp competition during the event, and CST’s Digital Regulatory Academy ran a masterclass on satellite regulation with the ITU. Recordings are available through the ITU event page.
Why the event matters
Satellite and non-terrestrial networks are becoming part of the connectivity infrastructure that businesses rely on, particularly in remote areas and critical services. The discussions on spectrum policy and regulation also signal how the Kingdom’s telecom and space rules may evolve for operators and investors.
